About Character Study

Hello! My name is Greg Goldstein and I am a Parsons Fashion Design BFA graduate class of '23. I conceived of this brand concept, Character Study, at the tail end of my junior year. I came into Parsons thinking I would go in the direction of costume design because I had ideas for characters and the visual communication of their traits externally. Once I learned how to create with a domestic knitting machine, I was hooked and filled with inspiration for ready to wear. I love to design illustrations of moments to be memorialized, characters that are full of life and are playfully designed with minimal lines. All pieces are handmade to order for the time being, direct to consumer. I do everything end-to-end: the patterns for the fit of the garments, original illustrations, and machine knitting on a hand powered vintage knitting machine. Stay tuned to watch it's progression in 2026 as I launch a small batch production run and aim to get the brand carried by a boutique in LA.
